TJ Rusty Brake lines
My 98 TJ driven in heavy winter salt conditions has some very rusty
(flaking, not just rust colored) brake lines, especially the line to the
rear over the skid plate. I'm thinking it should be replaced. The auto parts
store says just bring in the old and we'll match them up. I would rather
have everything in hand before I start. Does anyone know exactly what I need
to use off the shelf aftermarket lines? These all appear to have a
'standard' flare nut on the ends. They sell various adapters. I know for
instance the nut on the line to the rear at the combination valve measures ~
1/2" across the threads. The other ends appear standard size, but I don't
know for sure. Could they be metric? Does anybody know for sure exactly what
I need? Or should I be looking for lines from the dealer($$)? Thanks for
any advice. -Nick
