Well, if I was a betting person my money would be on the aftermarket remote
starter. If you have the Sentury key system then that is the problem. You
cannot use a remote starting system with the Sentury key system it is one or
the other. If you do not have the Sentury key system the installers have
hooked up incorrectly and by-passed your starting circuit that your key
uses. Any how, it is your remote starter that is the problem.

Re: TJ doesnt start with a key but does with...
So you start it with your remote and then what?!?!
I always thought that when you used the remote starter, you still have to
put your key in the ignition to be able to drive away (else it would kill
the enginer on you!).
Could it be the encoded key??

Re: TJ doesnt start with a key but does with...
I start it with the remote, then when I get in, I turn my key over to kick
it out of "remote start" mode as you have to do with remote starters.
My Jeep is a 1998, I dont have an encoded key nor a Sentury key system.
Most are saying it's my alarm, so I am going to have it checked out by the
shop that installed it 6 years ago. If they find nothing then I think I
might start with my ignition switch.
Thanks for your advise guys...
