I'm pretty sure it won't work due to input and output shaft spline count
differences, not to mention slightly different lengths.

It's going to take some research, transmissions and and transfer
cases are adapted to each other, like your year '88 YJ used adapters to
fit the New Venture Gear 231 transfer to the Japanese AX-5 or the frog
Peugeot BA 10/5 with 21 or 23 spline input adapters, I hope the '99
Dodge used an American transmission so it probably uses another size
adapter. Of course if the price is right, and with Advance Adapters we
may bolt anything to anything:
