Re: is the steering box shaft tapered?

Pretty sure it has a single spline blocked off but can't remember for sure
about a taper. I wanna say, no, but I can't with any certainty. The real
reason I'm responding is out of curiosity. Do you want to mount upside down
and why? Or, are you just checking to see if someone accidentally put it on
wrong?

Re: is the steering box shaft tapered?

well, i'm putting the tie rods on top of the knuckle and i read somewhere
that this might cause the tie rod end at the pitman arm to hit the tie rod
that goes from wheel to wheel. this happens when the left front tire is
stuffed in to the fender. the solution is to install the tie rod end at the
pitman arm on top of the arm, not at the bottom like stock. i wanted to
know if i had to mess with the pitman arm to install the tie rod on top or
not.
does this make any sense?

Re: is the steering box shaft tapered?

What are you working on, people do that with Spring Over Axle
conversions, but it requires a lot of machining.
