is the steering box shaft tapered?
 
hey guys-here's a quick one-is the shaft on a saginaw steering box
tapered? the one where the pitman arm goes on. i didn't get a chance
to look at mine this morning. can one install the pitman arm upside
down? thanks! 85 cj7 with power steering....

Tapered. Use an old full sized Bronco if you need an another couple
of inches drop without losing turning radius.

Tapered. Use an old full sized Bronco if you need an another couple

Pretty sure it has a single spline blocked off but can't remember for sure
about a taper. I wanna say, no, but I can't with any certainty. The real
reason I'm responding is out of curiosity. Do you want to mount upside down
and why? Or, are you just checking to see if someone accidentally put it on
wrong?
