That fat cow is exactly the reason why our system sucks. There will
probably be some apologist saying the kids had no right to knock on her
door and offer free cookies and they deserved what the got of course...

Its a sad day when teens are admonished for doing something nice for
people...

I don't believe Americans lose the right to sue other people while they are
in gaol, but it might be a real deterrent if you introduced it :-)

We put people in "jail" or "prison" in the United States, and they retain
their civil rights. In fact, they have access to law libraries while they
are incarcerated, which in many cases makes them even more a thorn in the
side of society, than they would be if allowed to run free. One of their
favorite tactics is to sue the Polizei and their jailers for real and
imagined civil rights violations. They are even more annoying than ordinary
litigants, because threat of contempt sanctions means nothing to them.
"What are you going to do, put me in jail?"

The problem with jailed litigants, is the same as with other types. Some of
them have claims, that have merit. You can't just willy-nilly disallow the
right to sue, because most people abuse it.

Not entirely sure how this would work, as I don't actually know of
any Gaols in the USofA, so one would probably have to move to some
place like Toronto first.
