Re: stainless steel nuts on graded bolts
And, SS hardware comes in different grades. Replacing a grade 5 with a grade
2 would be silly, and with a grade 8 might be equally wrong.

I've heard that a drawback of stainless steel is that grabs tight and
tends to bind unlike regular steel. I don't know if that's the case of
stainless to stainless or if it's different for stainless to regular steel.
Here's something else to consider. Contact between two different metals can
cause premature corrosion, though I wouldn't be concerned with that when
using stainless.

I believe that is more of an issue when machines put them together. If
they go too fast, the threads can gall and weld the nut to the bolt.

Re: stainless steel nuts on graded bolts
I believe that is more of an issue when machines put them together. If
they go too fast, the threads can gall and weld the nut to the bolt.
