Somebody put in a performance shift kit, while you weren't looking? ;^)
Seriously, get the fluid changed, check the fluid level, all the usual
suspects. Which engine is it?

If Earle's suggested doesn't fix it, clean your Throttle Position

tells the transmission when to shift, like to kick down to pass traffic:
