We voted out of power the guys that were supporting an unpopular war. We
are about to find out, if anyone in Washington is really listening. It's been almost a week, and I haven't heard any plans for organized retreat, demobilization, building new VA hospitals (which we will surely need!) or any of the logical correlates of voting against a war. Bush is still talking about winning the damn thing, last time I checked. I was happy to see Rumsfeld resign, but it would have been better if it were Cheney. I expect that all we are really going to get out of this exercise, is a prescription drug benefit for seniors that we really cannot afford, and lots of new taxes. Back to Jeeps! I wouldn't put it that way, but it sure sounds like a good idea to me. I
think you have to look at this as a vote against the Republicans, and pretty much everyone is taking it like that, not as a vote in favor of the Democrats' warped social policies. Specifically, a vote against continuing to have United States citizens dying every day in Iraq. How about we get the hell out of Iraq, and tell the world that we have killed enough Arabs and Muslims, so that we are more or less even after 911? Then let them put the country back together themselves. I'll bet precious few of those Al-Qaida jerks can operate a bull dozer or run a hospital. All they seem to be good for is hot air and bullets. As far as "Marines from Ohio don't run away", well that's pretty easy to say when you and I are paying the tab for this fiasco. I wouldn't put it that way, but it sure sounds like a good idea to me. I
think you have to look at this as a vote against the Republicans, and pretty much everyone is taking it like that, not as a vote in favor of the Democrats' warped social policies. Specifically, a vote against continuing to have United States citizens dying every day in Iraq. How about we get the hell out of Iraq, and tell the world that we have killed enough Arabs and Muslims, so that we are more or less even after 911? Then let them put the country back together themselves. I'll bet precious few of those Al-Qaida jerks can operate a bull dozer or run a hospital. All they seem to be good for is hot air and bullets. As far as "Marines from Ohio don't run away", well that's pretty easy to say when you and I are paying the tab for this fiasco.
