It's more like 100,000 in CA, 80k Federal, covered under the Emissions
warranty.

Once the catalyst breaks up into pieces it rattles pretty good, mine
was in 3 big chunks. Also be careful working around that stuff if it
anything like the catalyst that I work with in the oil industry it is
heavy metal based ( Actually it is nickel sulfate I just looked it up)
and not something you want to breath in.

The nickel in the cat eliminates really awful sulphurous (rotten egg) odor.
A number of mfrs have tried to eliminate it due to environmental conerns,
but the public simply can't stand the "stinky poo" smell.
