yep, I was back asswards on my gear/rpms and I apologize.
I thought I read here somewhere that my straight 6 somehow did better
on gas if the rpms were higher. That was what I was trying to question.

You should play around and see. My engine's 'sweet spot' is between
2300 and 2500 rpm. I get the best mileage there with tons of instant
pull if needed.

What Mike said about the sweet spot. I suspect that 2000 rpm will be a
bit low and 2500 a bit high for best mileage.
