Quadratrac - in a 78 cj7?
I'm looking at a 78 CJ7 all original, 304 with Quadratrac. I'm not real
familiar with the quadratrac is it reliable and tough? Or should I steer
clear and stick with the danas and t-176, t18 etc. Also with the 78 -the 304
is not as de-tuned as later models -right?
I'm looking for a nice, older cj to use as a daily driver (and would like
to have or add A/C). I like the price of this 78 cj, it's also solid, rust
free and mostly original.

The Quadratrac is usually junk, because of it's weird fluid
coupling internal differential, but it means you have the GM Turbo 400
in front of it that should take a Rat motor, So Novak makes an adapter
for the CJ-2A's Dana 18 that'll make it bullet proof:
http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/quadratrac.htm I would say if it's
not rusted out, buy it.
Yes, all 304" are detuned: http://www.----------.com/amchpchart.jpg
