Re: Purchase of 98 Warngler
Defiantly have the mech take a look. My '98 has had the radiator replaced,
the dash wiring redone, and is currently awaiting $$$ for a new exhaust
manifold. Like Mark said, if they haven't been changed yet, be prepared to
either do it yourself or have it done.
I picked up the 3 core radiator from radiatorbarn.com for about $175.00, it
does the job.
Not sure if you will be taking it off-road or not, but you might want to
check the rear end to see what it is equipped with (axle, gear ratio, etc.)
Enjoy-

Re: Purchase of 98 Warngler
Heck of a price IMO. More than likely, the check engine light is on
due to a malfunctioning oxygen sensor, which is an easy fix. But ya,
have a mechanic take a look if that's an option. In addition to the
radiator, check for a cracked exhaust manifold. Real common in '99 and
below models.

Re: Purchase of 98 Warngler
Well I had it checked out and here is what I found:
Check engine light is due to Throttle Position Sensor. They reset the
code and it went out but came back on. Interestingly, I filled her up
with 93 octane gas and on restart the light was out. The sensor test
said the problem occurred 34 times before the test.
The mechanic said teh car was in good condition, only need rear wheel
brake bearings?? Must ask him again what he meant.
Drives nice, all gauges work. Will give her a thourough check this
week-end, plus a true fluid flush. I like synthetics but fear them on
old engines. Any thoughts? What is best repair manual>
Thanks again
