Purchase of 98 Warngler
I have an opportunity to buy a 98 Wrangler Sport. 4.0l, auto, cold
air, soft top, sport wheels, good condition. 8/97 build. Only isues are mileage (118,000), with 90,000 in last four years and check engine light on. Price is $6500. Please advise if I should take the plunge. Seller has agreed to allow my mechanic to check. I am handy and can fix most minor things. Michael mjposner@warddamon.com |

I think that's a very good price, even with the check engine light on.
You'll need to replace the radiator and the exhaust manifold unless they've already been replaced. They are the junk parts on these jeeps. Get an all metal radiator, $200. The new improved type manifold at Autozone is also about $200. And it's not too hard to change. Good luck with your decision. Sounds like a decent deal. Have a mechanic check it and tell you why the
light is on or pull the codes yourself. Well, I work at a dealership and last week we took in trade a 99
Wrangler with 46k miles, 4.0L, and a 5 spd. with a/c and a 2.5" lift kit sporting five M/T custom wheels and new BFG's..overall excellant condition, and we gave $4700 trade-in...sold it the next day for $5700....go figure! |
