I am a six footer but my other car is a Honda Civic. I'd really like a
manual transmission, but the idea of a Ford-Escape-sized car with a decent
crawl ratio, well that might even be OK with an auto. There is another set
of holes in the stock Wrangler seat mounting, so that you can put the
driver's seat about an inch back of the stock location. I have had mine
like that for years.

Later.

And the available POIA documents go past WW2 incidents, in fact past
Korea. The damned things were so dangerous that they even devoted an
episode of M*A*S*H to it, albeit very cautiously. Them studios have
serious legal departments!

As I've said before, if Nader had taken on the WW2-era Jeeps instead, he'd
be considered a hero instead of a nutcase.

A nice way for a genetic mistake to check out, methinks.

Yes but you would have to put his body in a open garbage truck to keep
the lard from Oozing all over the ground!
He should be happy that someone cares.
Maybe I should call Washington and arrange for him to be buried at
Arlington, with a Superior Service record, and Safety Pin Stripes,
I'll bet they will jump!!

19:1 is not very good. The 2.5 YJ with AX5 has 43.8 stock which is
pretty respectable for a stock 4x4. They feature the 19:1 like it is
something special but it is actually pretty bad. The automatic does
provide more torque multiplication so 19:1 may be closer to 28.5 in
practice wich is about par with many stock SUVs.

I would go for a Liberty for more comfort. Other than that, I´m sure
it will make it over some rough roads just fine. Jp Magazine
published a review and it seemed to be pretty good overall.

Funny, I thought "Trail Ready" might mean something. The Patriot looks like
a better candidate for trading in my Honda Civic, and I just got new winter
tires for it. I am looking at Liberties now. (I know the plural of a brand
name would be "Libertys", but I don't care.) Too bad they don't let you
order different axle ratios.

Thanks.

Another option might be the JK, it is much more comfortable than a YJ
and its off road ability is clearly very good.

One thing about the Liberty, it is surprisingly good off road when
ground clearance is not the main concern. On a recent wheeling trip
we tried climbing a steep muddy slope. Only one vehicle made it up, a
Rubicon TJ with both axles locked and 35 inch tires. The vehicle that
made it up the furthest after the Rubicon was a Liberty. No other YJ,
TJ or ZJ made it up as far. Maybe it was luck or superior driving but
in any case the Liberty did very well.

If you disconnect the sway bars it gets much better. I agree it's not
a match for a CJ but it is pretty good for mild off road use.
