Re: paint on door handle
The paint on both side mirrors and the hardtop hinges for my 2000 TJ and my sons 1998 TJ came of in chunks, no wear or tear involved. I think it's an issue with the paint over aluminum or the fact that the parts were painted & manufactured in Brazil. Either way I dis-assembled the mirrors, took them down to bare metal with a wire brush wheel on my grinder. Used a black spray primer and a black matte spray paint to re-do them and they turned out great. I did the same to hinges on hardtop using wire brush wheel and drill. So far they are holding up perfectly. Hope this helps. Oh, I agree, I enjoy my TJ; the poor paint I can and will fix. I was just
flabbergasted when the dealer tried to explain it away as wear and tear. Re: paint on door handle
About two weeks ago I noticed the paint chipping off one of the
hardtop hinges. I also have a chip on the hood. Underneath, it looks like chalky white. What's that? My '91 YJ had a few chips over the years, but it was black underneath. Jeep sales must be good, so much so that DC doesn't have to improve on their product. |
