OT local regs

Re: OT local regs
Wisconsin is pretty strict about weapons in cars, and so are most of the states
east of the Mississippi.
Get caught here with anything loaded anywhere in your vehicle & go straight to
jail. They'll keep the gun, too.
Have a gun within reach (even under lock & key) and you got some fancy talking
to do to the already armed officers.
Keep your weapons locked in the back of the truck where you can't get at them.
Keep your ammo locked up as well.
Also, don't speed in Wisconsin. If you're from out-of-state and you get pulled
over, you must pay all fines right there on the side of the road, or you go to
jail right then & there. You'll see signs at our borders that say (big sign:)
"Wisconsin arrests drunk drivers" with a smaller sign under it that says "And
Speeders". They'll give you 10 mph in good weather, anything over that & they
have free reign to do whatever they like (within reason). Also, we have unmarked
squads here and our courts say it's OK for them to sit in the dark in an
unmarked car behind bushes running radar & bust you. When you get pulled over,
they have the right to search your car for any reasonable cause (like you're
acting or look suspicious). Seat belt rules are also strictly enforced,
probably even more so for out of state vehicles. Minnesota is very similar to
Wisconsin in most of these things.
Have a good trip!

Re: OT local regs
**** them off so they chase you into Montana, where the daily bag
limit on Bimmers is 2 per day, with a bonus of 1 extra if it has a
California plate.

Re: OT local regs
You could always go to your local Cop Shop and explain that you are "moving
out of this God forsaken hellhole" and ask them for advise. No, maybe that
won't work.

You would only feel bad if they immediately start shouting and
whooping and giggling, and passing a huge bucket for cash donations
to make sure you don't change your mind.

Re: OT local regs
that does no good when you are face down on the pavement, with some
over-zealous super-cop deciding just what to charge you with. you may (or
may not) win in court... by then it's too late.

Re: OT local regs
I think you will be safe if you keep the weapons in a locked case & the ammo
in a separate part of the vehicle (weapons in a locked case - locked in the
trunk & ammo in a locked case in the back seat.
I will check with the guy that qualified me for my CCW & get an opinion of

Re: OT local regs
Here in Minnesota, if you don't have a permit, it needs to be in a LOCKED
case, or places in the most distant portion of the vehicle, not in the pass
area. all magazines must be unloaded, and stored separate from ammunition.
(DNR calls a loaded mag, and a firearm, though separated, to be a loaded
firearm.)
Minnesota... the land where NOTHING is legal.
Avoid Mpls/St.Paul... I have heard a few horror stories about the local
constabulary, Besides, traffic is so buggered up even the locals must spend
hours lost amidst it!
rifle MUST be cased in the vehicle. When I moved here I was used to the
desert SW laws... I had my Ar-10T in a visible rack... and got to talk to
LOTS of state troopers... and I mean LOTS... as in auto-full load of
detectives. Eventually, I managed to convince them I was more-or-less
harmless... being a nationalised citizen didn't help the whole bloody mess
in the least. 4 hours later I got my armalite back, without a case I had to
disassm, and take home.
Jeff Gross is not kidding about Wisc... the mog actually got me a speeding
ticket in Superior. (while towing the Cj... no less) they take plastic on
the spot, no cash.... What else would you expect of a bunch o' cheese-heads?
When you get to Montana, shoot a prairie dog for me :)
