Re: OT: AWESOME!!!
I was thinking of the Atlas 6.00 x 13s that I used on the Corvair Wagon.....
The snow tires were 6.50 x 13s.
The Corvair was great in the snow.... as long as you did not want to change
direction or go over 50 mph.
I used to carry both spares and several bags of sand to try and hold the
front wheels down..

Re: OT: AWESOME!!!
Geez, I used to sell those tires during the Corvair years, I don't
remember anything below fifty bucks, and most the common sizes were
retailing for close to eighty bucks. But then they were Buttle. :-) Kind
of like Goodyear Double Eagle.

Re: OT: AWESOME!!!
I only bought them on sale, usually off-season close outs.
When you rarely get over 35 mph you can run snow tires year round...
Plus these were the cheapos..... not a good quality tire..They did not last
very long... but then... tires didn't back then....

Re: OT: AWESOME!!!
I think you're remembering something better in the "good old days"
I sold Atlas from '63 to '86 minus a couple for the ARMY, and I did buy
factory seconds, but still couldn't have bought one, even a 600X13 for
twenty, but I do remember storing one of those long batteries for a
Corvair that I would have given away if I could have found someone to
take it.
