Odometer running backwards?

Re: Odometer running backwards?
gas gauge? Anyway, I have owned this jeep for the last 6 years, and 100K,
so I don't think anyone tampered with it. I do like the mechanical
explanation of the click and pawl type gear, with the pawl getting stuck
allowing it to run backwards. I will see about getting a replacement.

Re: Odometer running backwards?
Gas guages are notorious for not displaying accurately. Many of us use the
odometer to keep track of fuel consumption. If we get 15 mpg, and can carry
20 gal of gas, tehn we have a 300 mile range. We watch the odometer, and
refill every 250 miles so that we don't have to walk home. Your odometer
spins backwards, making the walk home a very real possibility, assuming the
gas guage doesn't work well. Get it?
