NP231 from AX5 to AX15

Re: NP231 from AX5 to AX15
No, unless you get real lucky. The input gear/shaft has to be the correct
spline count and stickout, to mate with the AX-15's output shaft. Most or
all of the NP231s mated to an AX-5 will have the wrong part.
If you don't mind swapping this part, which involves disassembly of the
NP231, it is not such a big deal.

Thanks Earle, found the answer anyway. Seems the AX5 NP231 is a 21 spline
input verses the 23 spline input for the AX15 NP231. Darn, had a good deal
going here.

Re: NP231 from AX5 to AX15
Don't give it up too soon. Replacing the input shaft is a simple job
with only a couple of gotchas that are easy enough to avoid. Since
the hard part (pulling the tc out of the vehicle) is already done,
it's a half hour to an hour job. If the AX15 model is dead anyway,
you can probably swap out the input shaft from that - all you have to
watch out for is the bearing style and gear cut.
