Another couple thoughts.... has the OP checked to see that the hose is not
leaking or hasn't collapsed midway along the length?

When you spray cleaner into the port.... does the engine sputter or stall?

There are a couple of 'mechanics' here who say they know these carbs
really well, maybe one of them can chime in once all our guesses run
out?

I would be guessing the carb is loose or the base gasket has blown out
or the intake manifold is loose.

How is the idle?

How are the brakes?

Any oil puking into the air filter?

'side' of part #60 right under the horizontal line from part # 43 and is
about 1/8" around.

Just above that are two larger nipples that are just the float bowl
vents. They are not shown in the diagram and are connected to the
charcoal canister.

You're pretty much screwed if you don't have the original gasket to go by.
You have to find someone who actually knows how a carburetor works, or
figure it out by yourself, like Bill did with his accelerator pump float
gasket problem. I vaguely remember trying to order an exact replacement
carburetor gasket from a dealer, when the stuff in an aftermarket kit didn't
work right. They didn't know any more than we did.

It is still a mystery. To answer some of the questions raised...It is not a
collapsed hose or a crossed hose since there is no hose, I am checking the
vacuum directly at the port. Also, the idle is all screwed up after I
started messing with the hoses. I will be changing all the vacuum hoses
this weekend and will restore the whole system back to its original
configuration. I will post my results here when I am done. I am confident
that I will pass the emissions portion of the test now that I put in a new
cat in but the functional part will not pass until I am done resorting
everything. I will hopefully get to the test this weekend and will post the
results. Maybe somehow I will have vacuum again after I change all the
hoses and reconnect everything but I doubt it. But we can continue the
guessing game after I post my results this weekend. Thanks again to all of

started messing with the hoses. I will be changing all the vacuum hoses
this weekend and will restore the whole system back to its original
