I swore I thought someone said that DC upgraded from the old troubled rotors
to something that was 'less' prone to warpage. I believe it was 99 and up
or something...

Well, I bought a cheapy $25 tourque bar/wrech and (knock on wood) I'm at
25000km and haven't had a problem yet....YET! ;)

Correct. Someone just went out to the garage, pulled the box from the
pads out of the garbage and found a tiny plastic bag filled with
dampener springs in it... :-(

BTW, brakes are Bendix. Now to figure out where these clips go (your
picture helps, but is that all of them?) the little paper with
instructions is pretty crappy.

the squealing you hear could be from the metallic in the new pads. a bigger
chunk than should be there causing the squeal, that happens with less cost
pads
did you clean off the rust and lube the caliper slides??? was there dents
were the pads contact the slides? with out lube the pads can get stuck in
those grooves and the caliper piston boot does not have enough strength to
pull the pad off the rotor and a squeal will result
hence the goop theory to silence the pads what it does is glue the pads to
the piston so it can be pulled away from the rotor when the piston retracts
bac into the caliper( but others will tell you different) what about the
rear brakes could they be do for replacement ?
