All of it was highway or gravel, since I only had a 2wd pickup at the time. I remember the guys (and gals) at the station all being amazed that I not only knew what was wrong when my truck quit on me, but how to fix it. I didnt have the heart to tell them how simple it was. we knew the fuel pump was going out but figured to see how long it would last. When it finally died a few weeks after I got there I just ran into Cody and got a new one and put it in, no big deal - it was a mechanical one. heehee... One thing you really should take the time to do at some point is to go up to Glacier National Park. Anytime of year that you can. The first time I was ever there, I hit Camroon Lake in Waterton (the Canadian 1/2 of the park) 3 days after the ice broke - INCREDIBLE!!!! The place is fantastic. I've been up there a couple of times since, and I still want to go back. I have always wanted to start driving up the Rockies, down around Colorado or points south, and just go north....until I run out of mountians! =) |

Re: jeeping in the clouds
I guess it's one of the advantages of computer engine control.
The air pressure sensor (altimeter) sends data to the computer which then adjusts the fuel/air mixture for the lack of air.
