Jeep + pop-up

Re: Jeep + pop-up
I agree frankly. I think it depends a lot on how fast you are going, and
what sort of trailer you have. Trailers here are pretty good - My 8'x6'
(http://milne.info/wagoneer/trailer.jpg) has a 2.7 ton GVW capacity but has
twin axles and proper overrun brakes. The twin axles make a big difference
to swaying - I have to raise the jockey wheel so it is only on one wheel if
I want to manoeuver it by hand.
As it weighs over 1/2 ton, I restrict myself to another 3/4ton and above
that use the Wagoneer.

Re: Jeep + pop-up
I've noticed that in Europe they pull good sized trailers with what we would
consider is an awfully small and underpowered vehicle. Perhaps we have just
been spoiled by growing up with 32 cent/gallon premium gasoline....

Great point.
Here in the US, trailers that size don't typically have tandem axles.
European trailers are designed quite differently.
You guys also get those neat little self contained campers that aren't
sold here. As a married guy with no kids, I wish I could get one here.
I'm always impressed at the utility compared to vehicle size that some
non-USA vehicles have.
Don't get me going on small diesels... <G>
