I think it is a matter of personal honesty and living in accordance
with reality. Life and death is reality. I think a pet-keeper should
have the willingness to face the truth, the personal honor, that
pulling the trigger on Fido or Morris entails. I made my baby sister
shoot her cancer-ridden Maltese herself. I think the need to "have it
done" is cowardly in a sense.
