Did you change the cat litter brand recently or is the box dirty? I've found
some cats do not like certain brands of litter. Changes in food and even stress
in the house can change kitty's behavior.
Moving the litter box closer to where the cat usually stays also works, but that
is more for the older cat that can no longer walk long distances.
Rather than putting the cat down, how about finding it a new home.

Good one. There has to be an ASPCA / Humane Society shelter near where you
live and they'll take the animal for whatever you can donate.
About four years ago some jerkoff dumped the cat I currently have out here
in the woods. After nearly starving to death he was lucky to have found my
back door one night. He was also lucky not to have been either run over or
eaten by a coyote, mountin lion, bobcat, owl, you name it.
The cat's doing something perfectly normal, all you have to do is fogure out
what it's trying to tell you..which can be an SOB to figure out. The cat's
trying to tell you something, you may want to start by trying a new cat box
and a different brand of litter. Imagine yourself having to crawl into a
bunch of nasty, clay-like stuff that stinks and sticks to your feet..and add
two more feet to worry about!

Re: Hey you diesel freaks!
I agree with the others. SOMETHING has changed to changed causing your cat
to act out.
You can figure it out if you keep trying.
It might even be that you are stressed over what's going on and been giving
her hell.
Like others have said, be sure that littler is clean, that it's the right
kind or that other factors have not changed in even a subtle way. Ask your
wife when she gets home.
Killing the cat should be a last resort, one I would not opt for. Cats will
do this if they are pissed off too.
I had one do it to me once when I moved her kitty tree from one side of the
room to another.
