You are looking for cracks in the rubber block, either in the middle of
the rubber or the rubber has pulled away from the steel mounting plate.
One way to look for bad engine mounts is to put a jack under the oil pan
(use a wood block to cushion things) and GENTLY lift the engine a bit.
See if a crack opens up. It will be hard to see the crack on any surface
under compression. Repeat the process under the transfer case, see if
the tailshaft can be either lifted too far, or shifted over. Anything
over 1/2" or so of movement is suspect.
