HELP! Seized Bolt
Today when I was removing my rear leafs for the suspension lift all the
bolts and bushings came out rather well expect for two. The bolts I cant
remove are the two for the fixed end (front) of the rear leafs. PB Blaster
was sprayed on them throughout the day. The hit them with an impact,
nothing. BFH, nothing. Ground head off of bolt (only on one leaf pack) to
try and force out with a punch, nothing. The best I can figure is that the
bolt is seized to the sleeve in the bushing. Any ideas?? I want to get
those bolts out.

Re: HELP! Seized Bolt
Had the same problem, I bought a 7 1/4" metal cutting wheel (blade) for my
circular saw and cut up on the inside of the mounts. If you are careful you
can do this without messing up the frame mounts. It is also easier to cut
the leaf spring so it is not hanging in the way. Took me 2 days to figure
this out. I tried heat, BFG, PBlast, nothing worked.

One of mine came out after I broke it loose from the sleeve with a breaker
bar -- with a 4' length of pipe over the handle. The other one was seized
to the sleeve as well, but the sleeve wasn't seized to the rubber. It
came out after some pursuasion with a 10# maul. It helped that it was a
bare frame at the time.
Do you have access to a Sawsall (Tiger Saw, etc)? If you don't own one it
should be a rental item at the local lumber yard. Buy a pack of short
metal-cutting blades and slice the bolts off between the spring and the
ears. Should take you about 15 minutes per spring.
Good luck.

Re: HELP! Seized Bolt
There is a steel sleeve that these bolts go through, and it is rusted to the
bolt. I got out my trusty Napp Gas (like propane, but hotter) soldering
torch and had to melt mine off. Hit it with the flame, and whack the crap
out of it with the BFH.
