Those names sound good to me. It's used to shut off the vacuum to
the distributor advance diaphragm or Exhaust Gases Recycling valve,
cold: http://www.----------.com/vacValve.jpg I would toss it unless you
need it to pass SMOG visual.

It's called a CTO valve. An inline one too by the sounds of your
description...
My 86 has a waterjacket in the intake manifold, so my CTO is screwed in
there.
