I got interested in this question and poked around a bit. AutoZone (NYSE:
AZO) and Advance Auto (NYSE: AAP) are seperate, competing companies. AZ
bills itself as the larger, AA as second largest. I agree, they do tend
to stock their shelves with the same stuff, I suspect that it is
"low-bidder syndrome" -- their car radio section confirm that thought.
Here's an article on the growth of auto parts retailers in the US:

AutoZone (and perhaps others, I dunno) does do one thing that I think is
pretty clever: They've got a contract with FedEx that uses them to move
their stock around, instead of owning a dedicated fleet of trucks.

Your talking about the dash lights for the gauges etc?.. I'll take a look
at my spare cluster tomorrow to see if any of the bulbs still have their
number.

Re: Help Crank Position Sensor for 89 Cherokee LTD
http://www.galeanasc.com/sc/parts/ should have one that you need.
You can either get the one you need to hardwire in or the original one.
I opted to go to my friendly neighborhood dealer and get one.
IIRC it is part # 33004761 for the original cps 88 xj 4.0 auto
$39 my discounted cost just about 4 months ago.

Re: Help Crank Position Sensor for 89 Cherokee LTD
Hi Snow:
Yes, I'm referring to dash bulbs for the gauges etc. What I'd really like
to do is replace them with LED equivalents so that I don't ever have to
replace them again (and so that my dimmer switch won't melt again - which is
apparently pretty common if you happen to drive with the instruments dimmed
as I often do).
Thanks for your help

Re: Help Crank Position Sensor for 89 Cherokee LTD
Hi Snow:
Yes, I'm referring to dash bulbs for the gauges etc. What I'd really like
to do is replace them with LED equivalents so that I don't ever have to
replace them again (and so that my dimmer switch won't melt again - which is
apparently pretty common if you happen to drive with the instruments dimmed
as I often do).
Thanks for your help
