Have now re-geared the TJ!
Went from 3.08 to 4.56 (based on suggestion from this group) on the TJ. Now
running 3K RPM at 75 mph, a little high to suit me. Plenty of power in 5th
gear! Probably go with 35's when I ware out the 33's... should be just
right then! (The question in the back of my mind now: Should I have gone
with 4.10's ?)

Re: Have now re-geared the TJ!
I had 4.10 gearing with 33" tires for a few years and I hated the
combination, the rpms were low enough that I was always downshifting to get
up even minor grades. I'm a strong believer in the 4.56/33" tire
combination for a Jeep with a 5-speed manual tranny. :)

Re: Have now re-geared the TJ!
Hi Jerry,
Your recommendation weighed heavy in my decision. It just seems that 3K at
75 MPH is bit high. I was able to drive from southern WV to our capitol and
never come out of 5th (except for the stupid tolls) which is about 2,500
feet of altitude change. I guess unless you drive both setups in all
conditions, it's hard to tell what is optimal.

Well, it's not just me that likes the 4.56/33" tire combination, that is for
sure.
