we passed any possible middle ground years ago and were just holding

I don't think you'd have any qualms, if you had ever put down a
horse, because of a broken leg: http://www.dogbegone.com/opening.mov I
couldn't shoot a deer, preferring to stick the jugular of a calf or pig,
for my meat.
