Got my re-gear; thanks group!
Just wanted to thank everyone fo their patience answering my questions RE:
regearing my TJ. I went from 3.07 to 4.11 and man is it great! Feels like I
have way more power. I also had Tru-Traks installed front and rear, but I have
not really tried them out yet. I went up to the hills to go shooting/wheeling
yesterday but the access road to the quarry that I shoot at, and which has some
obstacles that could not get up with 3.07's and open front diffy, was closed
by trees that went down in a recent ice storm. I'll maybe head up there
tomorrow with a chain saw... PITA but a man has got to wheel (and shoot)!
At any rate, it was a lot of money but I'm glad I did it and it's out of the
way. Regearing opens the door to bigger tires, lifting, etc. Right now I am
trying to decide if I want to go to 31's, from the 1-year-old BFG AT 30's on
there now, or wear out the tires I have now and go with 32 or 33's and a lift
in a year or so. My gearing is real low with the 30's, it would be just
perfect with 31's I think, but I'd hate to waste the money by buying yet
another set of tires and only driving them for a year! My 30's are still
perfectly good...
At any rate, that's a whole nuther series of posts <g>! Thanks again for the
help and hand-holding!!
