Re: Got MPI. Now can't loose PING
Yeah Stephen,
That's what I'm thinking. In terms of cost the 4.0L head route is about the same as the adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I had planned to have it looked at (the 4.0L head) before I put it on. Also here: http://monsterslayer.com/jeep/40Head/40Head.htm suggests to get a 3-angle valve job. The only downside to all of this is I won't be able to drive my jeep again until finished. :-( I guess the quicker route would be the adjustable fuel pressure regulator if that does the trick. I need to test the pressure first before going that route. Another thing I need to worry about with the 4.0L head is the smog nazis here in California. I'm told the 4.0L head isn't exactly kosher but then I had another jeep expert here in California tell me that he doesn't know how they would tell the difference unless they looked up the serial. Odds are (I hope) they won't even be bothered with that. I think they'll be so pre-occupied with the MPI Kit they won't even look at the head. As far as timelines go the Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator fits from now until my next smog in March 2004. Then go to the 4.0L head after passing smog and ready for spring. Re: Got MPI. Now can't loose PING
You couldn't change the timing there. Call the manufacturer and see
if you may reprogram the computer, that's easily done on after market Ford and Chevy chips. Or your idea to increase the fuel pressure may do it, by richening the mixture. Reminds me of an old carburated car dieseling, we just have push throttle down to kill it.
