Re: Front speaker issue - '98 XJ
The system is pure-stock ("Classic" trim level w/AM/FM/CD/Casette, but no aux.
amp.)
Originally it was only the LF speaker, now it's both. The fader/balance
control in the dash works fine. I can replicate the condition with the door
panel removed by unplugging/re-plugging the speaker connection. It happens
with any speaker connected there. I changed the wire & connector and soldered
all wire connections. I have been chasing this all summer. I'd try going
farther upstream with my wire substitutions, but again, I can always replicate
the problem by disconnecting/reconnecting the speaker connection. (It "pops",
as if it's just receiving power.) Pressing the Power On switch on the dash
doesn't make it work. Neither does wiggling any of the wires. Thanks for your
thoughts.

Re: Front speaker issue - '98 XJ
Hmm, sounds like more of a problem than I had. I'd have to start with the
stereo itself.

Re: Front speaker issue - '98 XJ
it is a wire issue and you need to run new ones from the radio to the speaker
to save money factory harnes is a few bucs verses wire from walmart
there is splices in the door harness that break
