Fresh air duct 1976 CJ - Help Bill!
 

I figure that bill has a link on this one. Here's the deal. The radio will
not fit because there is a duct or hose or something in the way. I looked
at the pictures in the Haynes manual and I examined the vehicle. The
examination was not conclusive.

The pictures in the manual showed that the 'hose' goes down to a connection
that is near the floor and it passes behind the speaker grill on the dash.

On the jeep, the duct appears to be correct from looking through the grill
that is behind the hood on the front the the jeep, but the "hose" comes off
that duct and it goes right behind the radio cutout. it's about 4 inches
away from the front. No way is it enough room for the radio, not a chance.

I'm just thinking that they (whoever 'they' are) installed a transition duct
from the wrong model year and the transition is too far to the left (looking
at it from the driver's seat) about 8" too far to the left.

Hi Chip,
Have you tried just pushing it out of the way? Probably that's how
it got there, someone pushed there to get something else.

Hi Chip,
Have you tried just pushing it out of the way? Probably that's how
it got there, someone pushed there to get something else.
