A little OT from this, but about a month ago I went to AutoZone to get 3
sets of small block Chevy water pump gaskets (usually about $1.20 per set)
for a stock car I work on. We need 3 sets because there is an engine plate
and a set of spacers sandwiched between the block and the pump. Anyway, it
was a Sunday afternoon when I stopped there to check if they had gaskets.
Checker was the only other place open. AutoZone did not have any gaskets
that weren't in water pump boxes. The guy said he couldn't pull the gaskets
and replace them later, but then said he could get them delivered from
another store that was about 50 miles away. I would have them Monday
morning. I said to the guy that I could just get them at NAPA in the
morning, but he insisted on looking up the shipping cost. All of a sudden he
says "holy ----!", so I said what's up? Then he proceeded to tell me that
those gaskets would cost $36 to ship! Just remember to ask about these
charges so you don't get stuck paying some ridiculous amount.
