Factory diff lock in Cherokee

What you have is a limited slip diff, not a true locker. AFAIK XJ's did not
come from the factory with a locker.

To be honest It will almost never help. Applying the brakes a bit while
giving it some gas can get you some extra traction if one wheel is slipping.
Most of the time for off road use the clutch packs heat up and the thing
turns into an open diff anyhow.

giving it some gas can get you some extra traction if one wheel is slipping.
Most of the time for off road use the clutch packs heat up and the thing
turns into an open diff anyhow.
