End of Summer 2004 Run Call! "NOT" Jeeping to James Bay!
This is an August update for our annual Canadian Bush Trip.
Well folks it looks like financing is biting most folks for such a long
mileage trip up to James Bay so we are not going to do it this year.
Instead we are going out to some deep bush in Central Southern Ontario,
the same place as the last few summer runs.
There are a bunch of new to us trails opened up and some major exploring
to do to try and find a route out from the camping lake to the west side
where we normally come in from.
The road is closed this year in that direction, so we have to come into
the woods from the Bon Echo side off HWY 41, North of Kingston just like
we do in the winter runs and drive across.
My wife and I are heading in Saturday the 28th along with at least one
other Jeep and coming back out on labor Day. Steve and Jo are coming in
and according to hearsay from my kid on the 'net, Norm might even make
it!
As usual, I can come out Friday night to pick up anyone wanting to
only come in for the long weekend or at any other arranged time and
place to meet folks. I guess the main gate at Bon Echo Park would be
the place to meet. Lots of you have been in for the winter trips, so
just come that way and follow the main trail. Turns will be marked.
I have GPS tags for the entrance and can give good directions to it
anyway. The turns in the trail will me marked by pie plates saying
RAMJ+W on them like I normally do.
I 'will' be coming out to the east trail head Thursday night at 10:00 PM
to meet up with snowboardripper coming in from Montreal.
