Ah. Found a picture of what I was wondering about:

You can see what I was looking at just to the left of the steering
column in the picture. And here, all along the rear wheel arch.

Photos from this eBay listing. I've nothing to do with his auction, the

The frames are bridged at the spring perches, shock mounts, and
motor mounts, normally.
What is it doing in a garage on EBay? When it's sat it's whole life
under a tree holing leaf mulch.
