Dash pad removal in '86 CJ
Starting to have trouble with my windshield wipers. I hear that's is
something that's common. I know the motor is under the dash pad. Is it
held on by clips in addition to the 4 screws? Do I have to put the
windshield down to get it off (hard top's in the way now). It doesn't want
to budge and I didn't want to break anything. TIA!!

yes, there are screws under the windshield frame. Must fold it down to get
at them.

Re: Dash pad removal in '86 CJ
Remove front 5 top screws (HT), remove front 6 of the back 8, leave just the
bolt part of the back 2 in the holes. lift front of top off the windshield and
slide a long 2x4 between the top and body just behind the front seats. This
will allow the windshield to go down without the top being off. remove the top
4 dash screws. etc,etc

Are you sure it's the motor and not the wire? That's where mine was having
trouble.
