Re: CPS on Grand Cherokee?
When we did Ed's Cherokee last month the time to replace the sensor was
about an hour and that included the time pushing it uphill so we could roll
it into my garage out of the rain.

Re: CPS on Grand Cherokee?
Thanks all for the help.
Doug, the engine was off when I unplugged the sensor. It seemed to reset
or something.
Everything else causing missing was checked. Well, not everything, but the
most obvious ones anyway.
I did get the right one actually. Dealer happened to have it in stock.
Billy, I think the operative word here is 'we'. Just little 'ol me took
3+ hours a couple years ago replacing the durn thing. Turned out that time
that it wasn't the problem. Was a bad wire in the harness from the coil to
the computer.
Anyway, all said and done, I dropped it and the part at the shop and it
took them an hour. Left me clear headed to attend a job interview and not
worry about it.
The old girl seems to run stronger now. I do believe that was the fix.
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: CPS on Grand Cherokee?
Out of curiosity.....Which side was your sensor on?
We spent a lot of time looking for the sensor because all the references
show it on the passenger side and we could not find it there..
I am not sure if I have spoken to anyone who also had it on the driver's
side and I think there was some disbelief here in the newsgroup till I
posted the photos of the location.
Little Eddie's '96 ZJ Grand Cherokee had the failure symptoms starting to
appear a few weeks after we replaced Ed's CPS and he paid a shop to replace
it <sigh>
