Re: Cherokee power window failures...has yours failed yet?
The elevator is the weak link, but I'm blaming on thieves with a
screwdriver popping the window, and rather than the window shattering as
in most of their victims the window just falls open.

Same here - three replacements in 1 XJ. The first replacement was under
warranty and got a metal replacement. The second I did myself and it
had a metal replacement. The third replacement has a plastic piece
again. I asked for another from inventory. He checked and all of them
were plastic. The manufacture date on the bag was recent. Looks like
they went back to plastic again.

VW owners went through the same "cost reduced" plastic window regulators.
The only thing automakers know is a class action suit. They were charging
owners like mad making many boat/plane payments untill the suit. Now they
are covered for seven years and with reciepts all that were charged got
refunds. But it took lawyers. Why can't they own up to their blunders?
