Charcoal Canister

Can I ditch this thing in my 83 CJ? My O2 sensor is not hooked up (and still
runs like a champ!). What all goes through this thing?

It's the centerpiece of the evaporative emissions system and should not be
eliminated. It vents fumes from the tank and the carb float bowl.

Hi Allen,
If it ever will have to pass SMOG again, I'd keep it. The Canister
controls the gasoline vapors from the carburetor float bowl and fuel
tank via solenoid purge and positive crankcase ventilation valves:

Re: Charcoal Canister

The short answer is 'yes'. But I wouldn't. The Jeep will wreak like gasoline
and you still need a way to vent the float bowl.
