The paint on my Sahara flares never peeled off and since you mention it,
the flares on the Rubicon are painted matte. Sidesteps are quickly
removeable and should probably be replaced by rocker panel protection on
any Wrangler model. If you like the Sahara, get the Sahara. It will be
no worse for wear than a Sport. Besides, up to '03, they had WAY better
seats.
