You're just telling me you don't have oversized tires on your car.
If you want to stop a shimmy replace the dampener or even double shock

Re: OFF TOPIC Re: bouncy front end
Coasty, the clueless Bill is now recommending double-shock steering
stabilizers... which anyone with serious offroad experience would have
known that all double-shocking does is cause the power steering pump to
work twice as hard when steering and likely boil over on a tough trail.
Plus they simply place more stress on the front-end steering
components to overcome not only the big tire's increased steering effort
but the doubled resistance to steering input caused by the
double-shocked steering stabilizer. Street cruisers or offroad
wannabees run double-shocked stabilizers because they look cool but only
those running HUGE tires like 38 or 40" and bigger really need
double-shocked stabilizers. No, they're not likely to cause the power
steering fluid to boil over on the street, the comparatively tiny
(compared to what is common today) tires Bill used on his CJ, or on a
gentle trail because there are not the number of repetitive tight turns
as there is on a really tough trail.
Seeing a Jeep with normal trail-size (like up to 35" or 37" tires on
the trail with a double-shocked stabilizer is generally a good clue the
driver doesn't really aware of the problems that such a stabilizer can
cause. A single normal heavy-duty shocked stabilizer like is sold by a
dozen offroad companies is fine... double shocked steering stabilizers
are just a bad idea for the majority of us.
Bill, you're so short on actual relative trail experience that it's not
even funny. The last photo you posted showing your CJ offroad looks
like it was taken with a Kodak Brownie camera.

Not to mention that a "shimmy" is NEVER (!) caused by a defective
steering stabilizer. Installing a new or bigger steering stabilizer to
correct a shimmy is just plain wrong... you masked the symptom but you
didn't cure the actual cause. I have no doubt that you made people pay
you for blatantly wrong repairs like that when you ran your gas station.

steering stabilizer. Installing a new or bigger steering stabilizer to
correct a shimmy is just plain wrong... you masked the symptom but you
didn't cure the actual cause. I have no doubt that you made people pay
you for blatantly wrong repairs like that when you ran your gas station.

Re: OFF TOPIC Re: bouncy front end
Not to mention that a "shimmy" is NEVER (!) caused by a defective
steering stabilizer. Installing a new or bigger steering stabilizer to
correct a shimmy is just plain wrong... you masked the symptom but you
didn't cure the actual cause. I have no doubt that you made people pay
you for blatantly wrong repairs like that when you ran your gas station.
