I was impressed by what seemed to be the resolution to the TV station,
"If you catch us, we'll refund your money". What about the folks who
don't catch them? What's worse, their not doing the work could result
in some poor sucker's warranty being void for lack of maintainence if a
disaster happened to the engine or transmission.
One friend did get some slight revenge, he took his Peugeot to a shop
(believe it or not, the local Rolls Royce dealer at the time) and had
it serviced regularly. After paying very high bills for oil and filter
changes he decided to do it himself and the old filter cartridge came
out packed solid with sludge, it had never been changed! He put it in
a plastic bag, took it back to the dealer, removed it from the bag and
placed it on the owner's desk on top of all the paperwork there!

That's a real classic. First, a carpenter comes on TV and shows us how to
round off bolts with magic pliers. A few years later, he is selling those
sockets and some easy-outs. I suppose a plumber will be selling cooking
stuff, and just who the hell is this "Billy Mays" who screams at the top of
his lungs about some crap cleaning product?
