back seat sucks too

Re: back seat sucks too
I felt much safer with my daughter riding in the front of my 99 Sahara
than in the back, especially with the top down/off. There is more
rollover protection in the front. I was sorely disappointed when they
86'd the airbag switch, which I think should be an option in any
vehicle. Now, she rides in the back, but I wasn't aware that the '03s
had a different type of airbag. I might have to rethink that.

Re: back seat sucks too
My '99 Sahara did too, but they dropped it recently for TJs with a
backseat. I guess it's their way of 'forcing' you to use the back seat
when carrying kids, which, in a TJ, I'm not so sure is the safest seat.

Re: back seat sucks too
The whole issue was not over type of vehicle, just what seat is
generally beleived to the best place for a child in a car seat. What
constitutes immenant danger is (as you well know) open to opinion.
The factory (and I suspect government required) installed sticker on
teh passenger sunvisor on my 99tj clearly states kids 12 and under can
be killed by the airbag, and if you place a child seat in that seat to
turn off the airbag. Do I follow everything I am told, no, but in my
case I would rather here my kids say "I do" instead of JEEP.
We have different opinions, so what. On to Jeep stuff

its exactly the same argument.

they can also be killed on their bicycle. they can also be killed in the
bath tub. they can choke on the candy bar they hid under their bed to eat
when youre asleep. they can be shot at school by a stray bullet while
simply trying to get their books out of their lockers. they can be killed
playing in your yard by the neighbors dog that got out.
should we not allow them to have bikes, or take baths, or go to school, or
play outside?
> I would rather here my kids say "I do" instead of JEEP.
are you suggesting that i wouldnt? are you suggesting that im trying to
kill my child? your statement would imply that you are somehow "better" as
a parent, because i let my daughter ride in the front seat. that suggestion
astounds me.
you do everything you can to protect your children, but you have to be
realistic. only you know what you think is best for your children, and only
i know whats best for mine. if i see your child in _imminent_ danger ill
speak up. otherwise its none of my business.

My Daughter rides up front with me too, in her carseat.
Monster-in-law about had a fit when she saw it. I politely told her
to shove it. I removed the back seat about 1 month after buying my
2003 TJ and it probably won't be going back in.

No, No
Better NO!, Different YES, you know the thing we have a right ot be.
What astounds me is your reaction to a difference of opinion. I have
not indicated that I think I am better than you only that we have a
difference of opinion (that doesnt change ones worth or ranking)
You can have the last word, I am done with this thread, thanks its
been fun.
