Re: back seat sucks too
I think the SE, or Jeeps that don't come with a backseat, have a
passenger airbag switch. I have no idea why they took that feature away
from the other trimlines. Does anyone know?

its still an option. doesnt really matter though. with the front seat slid
all the way back and a front facing seat its not an issue anyway with a 2nd
generation air bag. 1st. generation (explosive opening) air bags/kids got a
bad rep from rear facing seats.
hell, when we were growing up we did good to not have to ride on the rear
deck. :-)

Your right, I wouldnt do anything the goverment, strangers or anyone
else tell me what to do, even if it was based in some reality.
FYI the 2 kids killed in Houston that I am aware of were in front
facing kid seats. A false sense of security can get someone hurt as
quick (or quicker) as not knowing at all.

i could give you an endless list of vehicles that protect your children
better than a tj. are you a bad parent because its "recommended" or a known
fact that these vehicles protect your children better, yet you choose to
drive a tj anyway? thats the same type of crap as giving someone
condescending judgement over letting them ride in the front.
this is what happens in a tj during a roll over at highway speed
http://7slotgrille.com/gbu/wreck.html and lets face it, it doesnt take much
to roll a tj at highway speed. there is _no_ sense of security in a moving
vehicle no matter where you sit. whats the solution, stay at home?
i notice from your sig line that you drive a 99 tj. your children would be
much safer in an expedition.....

Re: back seat sucks too
I felt much safer with my daughter riding in the front of my 99 Sahara
than in the back, especially with the top down/off. There is more
rollover protection in the front. I was sorely disappointed when they
86'd the airbag switch, which I think should be an option in any
vehicle. Now, she rides in the back, but I wasn't aware that the '03s
had a different type of airbag. I might have to rethink that.
