Re: Axles - Advice needed

Hi Carlo,
I start with the shims that came off the old pinion, that's the
inaccuracy between the bores of that housing, usually that's close
enough for government work. The bluing in these examples are really a
negative of what we see: http://www.drivetrain.com/ringpinioninstal.html

There's probably thousands of fractured pieces of axle that
gravitate to the lowest point, the pinion bearings:

Re: Axles - Advice needed

Thanks much - I have looked @ the diagrams in the FSM, in the manual that
came with the bearing kit, in a JP magazine article, & even a VHS tape from
Richmond Gear, etc - & looking at this one helps (it adds another bit to the
other 10 I've looked at). Books & diagrams always help - but I think I'm
going to have to find something that I'm not in a pinch to fix on a schedule
& just play with it. As in the Nike TV ad - "Just Do It".
